Project: Cascade Concept.
Context: Rolling Rural Orchard.
Brief: A large family country house, understated but with interesting design features. A modern aesthetic that is striking, yet in harmony with the landscape. The form of the design should encourage a natural separation of private and shared spaces.
Response: Low-slung, offset forms intersect at varying angles to construct an overall composition that cascades with the rolling landscape. The home is large, yet in scale with surrounding trees on the orchard. Low-pitch roofs with parapets aid in the house maintaining a low profile. Exterior timber and a large cantilever softens the aesthetic impact on the surrounding landscape.
